    ERP Systems designed to help organize an enterprise can come in a variety of structures. Most of these systems are inflexible. They have pre-fabricated software that forces your company to change its business practices to conform to the software requirements. Sometimes this can be a benefit; for example when a company’s business practices are poorly constructed. For those well-run companies, well-designed software can streamline procedures and improve productivity, thus improving the bottom line.     Enterprise Resource Planning or ERP Applications have become an integral part of companies core operations. Such business tools are required to maintain organization and stability throughout an organization. In theory, enterprise applications contain all the functionality a business needs under one software system. Try looking for a SaaS (Software as a Service) Enterprise Resource Planning system that is configurable. This does not mean resorting to a canned or “out-of-the-box” system which will have a nice price tag and but no growth potential. These systems may be a great option for small businesses that do not require a great deal of functionality. However if the company were presented with the opportunity for growth or become more profitable they would have to purchase an entirely new system, sending them back to square one.

    With growing technology it has become very common for businesses to desire a system that is not only accessible from work but from home or a mobile device also. ERP systems consist of many different modules and some such as a Customer Relations (for example) may be crucial for persons working out of the office to have access too. Sales reps are out of the office much of the day; having the ability to log into the system to look up customer contacts or information pertaining to an order would be extremely helpful. This could in turn eliminate wasted time traveling to and from the office.
